The Rate-X Transceiver of Georg Böcherer, Patrick Schulte, and Fabian Steiner was selected for the final round of the Bell Labs Prize 2015. Our work Experimental Demonstration of Capacity Increase and Rate-Adaptation by Probabilistically Shaped 64-QAM was accepted as a postdeadline paper at the peer-reviewed European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC). Ziv Goldfeld will be awarded an IEEE Israel 2014 Best Student Paper Award, the certificate will be presented at the IEEEI convention in Eilat, Israel, on Thursday, December 4, 2014. The paper is entitled "Semi-Deterministic Broadcast Channels with Cooperation”. Ziv has been a regular visitor at the LNT over the past 2 years and is supervised by Professor Haim Permuter of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. [read more]

Onur Günlü won the 1st prize in the competition ''Hands-On Project Digital Society'', a competition sponsored by the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation, DAAD, the Goethe Institute, the German Centre for International Migration (CIM), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Rana Ali Amjad will be awarded the Walter Gademann Preis of the Fakultät für Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik for his outstanding Master's thesis. The prize will be awarded at the Tag der Fakultät on Nov. 7.
