The Seminar on Topics in Communications Networking provides an opportunity to learn how to study academic literature and present scientific works in the form of a summarized technical paper and academic talks. In this seminar, students will be assigned to supervisors, and will be introduced to important research areas and state-of-the-art literature in the field of networked systems, covering a variety of topics such as:

Note: To participate in the Seminar on Topics in Communications Networking at TUM, attendance at the Kick-Off lecture (first lecture - see TUMonline) is mandatory to get a topic assigned. Prior registration in TUMonline is also mandatory. The number of available topics are limited; in the event of more student registrations than topics available, topics assignment will follow a predefined first-come-first-serve selection process.

Objectives

The primary objective is to equip students with the necessary skills for conducting a literature review, writing scientific papers, and delivering presentations. The seminar aims to introduce students to current research literature, bridging the gap between coursework and state-of-the-art research. By the end of the seminar, students will have learned how to study and deliver scientific materials, gained an understanding of a particular research, and improved their skills on how to analyze results and evaluate their impact. The course will provide students with the opportunity to develop their academic skills and prepare them for future research..
