Zum Gedenken an Rudolf Ahlswede und seiner fundamentalen Beiträgen in Informationstheorie, Kombinatorik und Suchtheorie wird eine Festschrift, herausgegeben von Harout Aydinian, Ferdinando Cicalese und Christian Deppe (Eds.), in der Reihe Lecture Notes in Computer Science erscheinen.
In der Informationstheorie hat Rudolf Ahlswede unter anderem fundamentale Beiträge zur Kapazität von beliebig variierende Kanälen, zur informationstheoretische Sicherheit, zu Mehrteilnehmer Kommunikationssysteme, zur Quanteninformationstheorie und zur Zero Error Kapazität geliefert. Der Lehrstuhl hat in seinen 3 Beiträgen versucht, Rudolf Ahlswedes Beiträge zu würdigen und fortzuführen.
