Neuromorphic Computing
The novel computing approach of neuromorphic computing mimics the functioning of biological brains in hardware. Spiking neural networks (SNNs) encode information in the form of discrete impulses (spikes), similar to the action potentials in biological neurons. This can lead to greatly improved energy efficiency for certain signal processing tasks, thereby helping to reduce energy consumption. In the ACES Lab we have several SpiNNaker2 boards, equipped with one or 48 SpiNNaker2 chips. The SpiNNaker2 chips enable efficient implementation of SNNs.
