Humboldt Fellowship for Yonatan Yehezkeally

Yonatan Yehezkeally will receive a Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. This fellowship enables exceptionally highly-qualified scientists and scholars from abroad to conduct research of their choice in cooperation with academic hosts at research institutions in Germany. The fellowship will sponsor Yonatan's long-term research stay at TUM and LNT, hosted by Prof. Wachter-Zeh.

Teaching Award for Thomas Wiegart

Every year, the student council of the TUM Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering awards prizes to lecturers who went above and beyond their duty as teachers and excelled at their work. This year, Thomas Wiegart will receive the Teaching Assistant Award at the "Tag der Fakultät" on November 13th for giving the tutorials of our Digital Communications course in the 4th semester. Prof. Dr. Ralf Kötter Memorial Award for Juan Diego Lentner Ibañez

Diego Lentner is the recipient of the 2020 Prof. Dr. Ralf Kötter Memorial Award for his outstanding Master thesis entitled "Dirty Paper Coding For Higher-Order Modulation and Finite Constellation Interference”. The award, endowed with 500 Euros, is named after the TUM Chair of Communications Engineering Ralf Kötter, who died in 2009.

TUM Global Visiting Professorship for Alexandre Graell i Amat

Alexandre Graell i Amat from Chalmers University, Sweden, has won the prestigious TUM Global Visiting (formerly August-Wilhelm Scheer) Professorship, funded by the German Excellence Initiative.

IEEE Information Theory Society Aaron D. Wyner Distinguished Service Award for Joachim Hagenauer

Our former chair Joachim Hagenauer is the recipient of the 2019 IEEE Information Theory Society Aaron D. Wyner Distinguished Service Award. The Award honors an individual who has shown outstanding leadership in, and provided long-standing, exceptional service to, the Information Theory community.

LNT Team Wins Heinrich Hecht Award for Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Code Design

Tobias Prinz, Fabian Steiner, Thomas Wiegart and Peihong Yuan have been awarded the 2019 Heinrich Hecht Award for designing the best channel code in a "Wanted: Best Channel Codes for Short Underwater Messages" competition.
