Teaching Awards for Alex Jäger and Stefan Ritterhoff

Every year, the student council of the TUM Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering awards prizes to lecturers who went above and beyond their duty as teachers and excelled at their work. In 2024, Alex Jäger and Stefan Ritterhoff received the Teaching Assistant Award for giving the tutorials of our course "Nachrichtentechnik" (digital communications). Daniel Plabst nominated for Jack Keil Wolf ISIT Student Paper Award 2024

Daniel Plabst was nominated for the 2024 Jack Keil Wolf ISIT Student Paper Award for his paper "Neural network equalizers and successive interference cancellation for bandlimited channels with a nonlinearity". He was one of six finalists. Daniel gave his presentation at the 2024 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT) in Athens.

ESIT 2024 Best Poster Awards for Anisha Banerjee and Alex Jäger

The best poster awards at the 2024 European School on Information Theory (ESIT) were awarded to Anisha Banerjee for her poster "Error-correcting codes for nanopore sequencing" and to Alex Jäger for his poster "Successive interference cancellation for optical fiber using discrete constellations". Humboldt Research Award (Humboldt-Forschungspreis) for Polina Bayvel

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has awarded Polina Bayvel the Humboldt Research Award (Humboldt-Forschungspreis) in recognition of her scientific accomplishments. Professor Bayvel is the head of the Optical Networks Group (ONG) at the University College London (UCL) which she founded in 1994. IEEE Communications Society & Information Theory Society Joint Paper Award

Shirin Saeedi Bidokhti is the recipient of the 2023 IEEE Communications Society & Information Theory Society Joint Paper Award. Shirin was a postdoctoral fellow at the TUM Institute for Communications Engineering from 2012-2016. She is currently Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania.
