Lernziele

After completing the module students are able to create a functional receiver which detects data bits from a signal received by an antenna. The students will learnto evaluate how training sequences, coding and modulation have to be parameterized depending on the expected channel distortions.

Beschreibung

The aim of the course is to learn methods of wireless communications. The participants will create a digital radio receiver according to the DAB-Standard. They will use the "software-defined-radio" principle in that the main part of the receiver will be programmed in software. Hardware will be used that permits working with a signal that is received by an antenna. The following topics are considered in detail: - Time and Frequency Synchronization - Orthogonal Frequency-division Multiplexing (OFDM) Modulation - Differential Modulation - Channel coding - Filter design - Comparison with analog transmission schemes. Matlab and GNUradio will be used as programming languages, for which no previous background is necessary! For more information contact onur.gunlu@tum.de.
