invitation of young researchers to German-Korean Symposium "Human-Centered Assistive Robotics", Munich, 27-28 October 2014

German-Korean Leopoldina-KAST Symposium on “Human Centered Assistive Robotics”, which will be held in Munich on 27-28 October 2014.

The event is organized by the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) in cooperation with DLR and TUM, under the scientific lead of Gerd Hirzinger and Z. Zenn Bien, Department of Electrical Engineering, KAIST, as well as Prof. Dongheui Lee, TUM.

The symposium aims at discussing the state of research and technology in Korea and Germany. Typical assistance robots will serve as coworkers in industrial production (especially assembly), and they will support humans, e.g. in elderly care, surgery and rehabilitation. Though there are many other fields for assistive robotics (space, subsea, UAV’s), the above mentioned areas call for tight man-machine-cooperation with physical interaction requesting compliant and safe behaviour, easy programming and learning (e.g. by demonstration), and in many cases mobility and mobile manipulation including humanoid appearance.

The symposium enlightens the corresponding research activities in Germany and Korea.

Attached please find the program of the symposium, which will take place on the Innenstadtcampus (city campus) of Technische Universität München (TUM), namely in the Vorhoelzer Forum (Arcisstrasse 21, 5th floor).
