Abstract:

Digital backward propagation (DBP) as a method to compensate signal distortions caused by group velocity dispersion and Kerr nonlinearity in optical fibres attracts much attention. As an inverted propagation simulation of the received signal is the key element of DBP, the main challenge is to reduce the computational effort. We review methods developed so far.
