In the festschrift "Mathematics in Society," stemming from the 7th European congress of Mathematics (7ECM), Holger Boche and Ezra Tampubolon have contributed the chapter "Mathematics of Signal Design in Communication Systems."

The European Congress of Mathematics takes place every four years.

The festschrift is being published by the European Mathematical Society and will be publically presented in Berlin on July 18, 2016.  In the contributed chapter, the importance of additive combinatorics to signal design is worked out, especially the relation to Szemeredis’ theorem of arithmetic progressions and to the generalization of this theorem.

Endre Szemeredi, who is the 2012 Abel Prize Laureate, will give a lecture on additive combinatorics to the 7ECM participants.
