Curriculum Vitae

Prachi obtained her bachelor’s from DSCE, India in the year 2015 and did her master’s in Materials Science at University Paderborn, Germany. For her master’s thesis she joined Kristen Kozielski’s group at Institute for Functional Interfaces, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and is continuing her PhD at TUM in the Neuroengineering Materials department to expand the research she started with Kristen.

Research

Prachi is working on a generalizable method to determine the neuromodulatory capabilities of untethered nanoscale neural stimulators. The first working model is based on ab-intio DFT calculation for material properties such as material strength, piezoelectric and magnetic properties which can be added to a Finite Element Model of the Magnetoelectric Nanoparticles. Certain materials characteristics which cannot be directly probed through theoretical calculations (such as magnetostriction and effect of surface functionalization) is being explored by her through X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Alternating Gradient Magnetometer (AGM) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS).
