On 21-23 March Professor Gerndt and his team from the Chair of Computer Architecture had given an introductory course in Cloud Computing. IT-experts from various industries had learned how to create, monitor and manage their virtual machines both in AWS and Azure, as well as how to create their own applications with microservice architecture using Node.js, how to pack them into Docker containers and orchestrate containers using Kubernetes. During the course, the Chair’s industrial partner Instana had provided an overview and a hands-on for their solution in performance monitoring for microservice applications. Using the collected feedback, Professor Gerndt aims to add several specialized courses to meet the demand for particular technologies. Further offerings from our Chair both for companies and individuals will become available soon on the website cloud.lrr.in.tum.de/en (subscription available!).
