Postdeadline Paper at ECOC 2015

Our work Experimental Demonstration of Capacity Increase and Rate-Adaptation by Probabilistically Shaped 64-QAM was accepted as a postdeadline paper at the peer-reviewed European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC). This work was co-authored by Fred Buchali, Georg Böcherer, Wilfried Idler, Laurent Schmalen, Patrick Schulte, and Fabian Steiner.

Rate-X Transceiver Selected for Stage Two of Bell Labs Prize 2015

The Rate-X Transceiver of Georg Böcherer, Patrick Schulte, and Fabian Steiner was selected for stage two of the Bell Labs Prize 2015. We now work towards demonstrating the potential impact of the Rate-X transceiver on future communication systems.

Gerhard Kramer in der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften

Die Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften hat elf Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aufgrund ihrer wissenschaftlichen Leistungen als neue Mitglieder gewählt – darunter zwei Professoren der Technischen Universität München (TUM): Prof. Gerhard Kramer, Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Nachrichtentechnik, und Prof. Matthias Rief, Lehrstuhlinhaber für Molekulare Biophysik.

Award of Excellence für Bernhard Geiger

Der Award of Excellence des österreichischen Bundesministeriums für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft wurde 2008 durch Bundesminister Dr. Johannes Hahn geschaffen und zeichnet die besten Dissertationen eines Studienjahres aus. Nominiert werden die KandidatInnen durch die Rektorinnen und Rektoren der jeweiligen Universitäten. Im Studienjahr 2013/2014 wurde der Preis an 40 KandidatInnen verliehen.

Karl Max von Bauernfeind Medaille der TUM für Nicole Rossmann

Nicole Rossmann wurde für ihr herausragendes Engagement als „Administrative Assistant“ für das Programm „Master of Science in Communications Engineering“ (MSCE), dem ersten „International Graduate Program“ der TUM (1998), mit der Karl Max von Bauernfeind Medaille der TUM ausgezeichnet.

IEEE Israel Best Student Paper Award for Ziv Goldfeld

Ziv Goldfeld will be awarded an IEEE Israel 2014 Best Student Paper Award, the certificate will be presented at the IEEEI convention in Eilat, Israel, on Thursday, December 4, 2014. The paper is entitled "Semi-Deterministic Broadcast Channels with Cooperation”. Ziv has been a regular visitor at the LNT over the past 2 years and is supervised by Professor Haim Permuter of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

Onur Günlü won the 1st prize in the competition ''Hands-On Project Digital Society'', a competition sponsored by the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation, DAAD, the Goethe Institute, the German Centre for International Migration (CIM), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Rana Ali Amjad will be awarded the Walter Gademann Preis of the Fakultät für Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik for his outstanding Master's thesis.
