Magnetoelectric Materials Engineering

Our wireless neural communication technologies are based on magnetoelectric materials, which output electric signals in response to magnetic fields. A large focus of our group’s work is to better understand magnetoelectric materials to optimize their ability to stimulate and sense neural activity. We are particularly interested in material geometry and its link to signaling/sensing. We work with sol-gel and solution based synthesis methods, thin film synthesis methods, and AFM-based magnetoelectric characterization methods.
