Short Biography

Dr. Kolja Kühnlenz was a Senior Lecturer and Senior Research Scientist at the Institute of Automatic Control Engineering (LSR) and Carl von Linde Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study (http://www.tum-ias.de/), Technische Universität München, Munich, Germany. He was director of the Dynamic Vision and Interactive Robotics Research Laboratory at LSR with 10 Researchers / Ph.D. candidates. Principal Investigator positions held were within the Bernstein Center of Computational Neuroscience Munich - BCCN (http://www.bccn-munich.de/) and within the Munich Cluster of Excellence "Cognition for Technical Systems - CoTeSys" ( www.cotesys.org). He received the engineering degree in Electrical Engineering in 2002 from Technical University of Berlin, Berlin, Germany, and the Doctor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering in 2007 from Technische Universität München, Munich, Germany. From 2003-2006 he was research and teaching assistant at the Institute of Automatic Control Engineering, Technische Universität München, Munich, Germany. Responsible positions include Chairman of DFG Excellence Cluster CoTeSys Graduate Center, membership of the Extended Board of Cluster CoTeSys and of the Executive Board of Bernstein Center of Computational Neuroscience, organizing committee leads, e.g. Program Chair and organizer, IEEE RO-MAN 2008, Steering Committee member, IEEE HSI 2010. Dr. Kuehnlenz serves in the Editorial Board of International Journal of Social Robotics, Springer, and the Conference Editorial Board of the Robotics and Automation Society as Associate Editor. He has been project referee for the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the French Federal Ministry of Research (ANR) and serves as reviewer for manifold top-level journals and conferences in the fields of robotics, vision, and human-machine interaction.
