The Südwestmetall Advancement Award is awarded annually to one graduate at each university in the state of Baden–Württemberg, for "outstanding scientific theses with particular significance for industrial work environment and socio-political conditions".

The award ceremony took place in Stuttgart on April 9, attended by the science minister of Baden–Württemberg, Theresia Bauer, members of Baden–Württemberg's state parliament, and executive board members of Südwestmetall companies.

Südwestmetall is one of Germany’s largest employers’ associations, representing ca. 700 companies in the metal and electrical industry of Baden–Württemberg.
