Christopher Kuhn studied Electrical Engineering at the Technische Universität München. He received the degree Bachelor of Science with high distinction in 2016 and the degree Master of Science with high distinction in 2018. He received a VDE award for his Master thesis in 2018. Since December 2018, he is an external PhD candidate at BMW in the field of autonomous driving.  In December 2020, he received the Best Student Paper Award at the IEEE ISM 2020 for his paper "Better Look Twice - Improving Visual Scene Perception Using a Two-Stage Approach". In March 2021, his paper "Introspective Failure Prediction for Autonomous Driving Using Late Fusion of State and Camera Information", published in IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, was featured in a TUM press release. In August 2021, he received the Excellent Video Award for his contribution to the TMI (Transdisciplinary Mobility Innovation) Education Video Competition.

Research Interests

His research interests are in the fields of Machine Learning and Computer Vision. Currently, he is studying methods for failure prediction and uncertainty estimation in order to predict challenging traffic scenarios automatically and predictively.
